Two sets of ten to fifteen glute bridges with no added load, pausing two seconds at the top and consciously squeezing, before you do anything heavy. This measurably improves glute recruitment in the working sets, and it is the most-skipped step in the whole routine.

4. Add a band around the knees. A light band forces you to press outward against it, which recruits the gluteus medius and encourages the whole glute group to participate. Many people feel bridges in their glutes for the first time with a band.

5. Try the exercise with a shortened hamstring pre-fatigued - deliberately. Counterintuitive but effective: a set of hamstring curls before bridges leaves the hamstrings less able to dominate, forcing the glutes to contribute. Use this as a temporary teaching tool, not a permanent setup.

6. Reconsider your exercise order. Bridges after heavy deadlifts or a long run will cramp far more readily. If glutes are the priority, train them earlier in the session.
